This HP laptop came to us with a power issue, when the laptop power supply was plugged in the power LED on the side turned on as usual, but when pressing the power button nothing would happen, we stripped the laptop down for investigation and found that the 5v rail was shorted to ground stopping the laptop from powering on, several components were shorted but the small capacitor in the picture was the main culprit shorting the motherboard, we replaced the shorted capacitor, re-assembled the laptop and now have a repaired fully functional laptop

The Huawei MateBook is powered and charged via a USB C Power port, unfortuanutly it is quite common for these to fail on these laptops, usually the centre of the port pushes back and breaks the connections and also tears the traces and pads from the motherboard, as seen on the first picture showing the broken pads and traces after the damged USB C port has been removed from the motherboard, the second picture shows the port replaced with traces repaired, and as you can see from the penny used for a rough guide to the scale of things, it is a job for skilled hands, but we can repair them for you

Our Customer brought this Clevo laptop to us saying it would not charge nor power on correctly unless you hold the power supply plug at a certain angle, they also reported Cmos warnings every other boot of the laptop, the laptop power supply tested fine with 19.5 volts as it should be, but no voltage registering on the motherboard when the power adaptor is plugged in, we then removed the motherboard from laptop to examine, we found that the positive pin of the dc jack was corroded and broken, highlighted by the arrow in the picture, we cleaned up the pin and resoldered and tested, tested fine now registering 19.5v on the motherboard as required, when testing the laptop Cmos battery we found it to be only 2.5v and it should between 3V and 3.2V, we then swapped out the Cmos battery for a new one, reassembled the laptop and test, was still getting intermittant booting every other boot, but no Cmos warnings now, we found that a certain port is intermitantly stalling the laptop on startup, so disabled the port to test our theory and laptop now powers on with no issues, liased with customer they do not use the port, so no further work required

This repair to this lovely Acer Gaming machine was due to a liquid spillage on the keyboard, the laptops power button is incoporated into the keyboard, & the laptop would not power on, we removed the bottom cover of the laptop, located the keyboard ribbon and disconnected the keyboard from the motherboard, then we located the pins associated with the power button of the keyboard ribbon connector on the motherboard, we then shorted them to emulate the power button being pressed and powered on the laptop, we then tested the rest of the laptop compenents etc, and found nothing wrong except the touchpad had failed also, then we removed the motherboard and examined for liquid damage no water marks were found, replaced the palm rest and touchpad and this very nice laptop is now repaired and fully working as it should be

Our customer required more free space as their solid state hard drive was only 128GB and was starting to run out of free space, so we replaced his NVMe M.2 SSD drive for a 500GB NVMe SSD, we cloned their system, so all of their programs files etc were exactly as they were, the only difference bing was just lots more free space on the hard drive, whilst we had the laptop was open, we also replaced their battery as the old battery did not have much life left in it
